Stephen Caheny has been playing guitar since the age of 13.
He’s been writing since then and hasn’t looked back.
Over the years he’s had the privilege of supporting such acts as Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol, Bell X1, and Damien Rice in solo performances around Ireland.
He has played in many bands over the years playing his own original music and collaborating.
Stephens last band Burning Shades supported such Irish bands as TURN, A Plastic Rose, and Delorentos.
Burning Shades in the summer of 2006 embarked on a self-promoted, 3 month tour of Boston. The tour was a success as the band found themselves playing to large audiences and progressing musically. The Shades earned a reputation for their atmospheric live performances in Boston and were included on the WMFO and WRIU “Best of 2006” radio shows respectively. When the band returned from the USA the band played their biggest show to date in The Left Bank, Sligo, Ireland as special guests on the prestigious 2fm 2morrow 2our line-up. This tour had up and coming bands such as Giveamanakick, Messiah J and the Expert.
Most recently Stephen has started writing and playing again after a year away due to his long time friend and co-songwriter in Burning Shades, Neill Mc Garry passing away.
Stephen is now currently getting back on the live gig scene and will be playing across Ireland in the next couple of months with his new band(Name to be decided!).
Influences such as The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Mogwai, Weezer, Supergrass, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac make for quite an interesting but rocking slice of music live and in the studio.
